Lower management "closing" the case
Anna,
I heard that you have been making calls, indulging in management smooth talk and telling everyone that the case is closed.
How can you be so naive? OR Do you expect people to be so naive to believe you?
It's very unfortunate that you are taking sides in this case when you should actually be neutral. Earlier on a different note you had said that "I am free to resign". That was an arm-twisting, unwarranted and uncalled-for statement. And now this.
Talking about the case we have found that the JPMC HR is ill equipped and exhibited inadequacy to handle the case, the HR admitted it tacitly. Several questions that I had posed to HR continue to remain unanswered. There is an effort to trivialize and muffle the case. In the midst of this your actions come across as tantamount to colluding with HR in "closing" the case. If you compromise on your integrity and choose to take sides further that can only damage the case. I do not understand why you would take the side of the pepetrator of the crime and blame the victim instead, now that reminds me of the web page I sent yesterday about my nightmare i.ehttp://www.bluecorncomics.com/blaming.htm
I know that you are a senior manager and as such you have some stake in resolving this case. But as we all know this is a case that involves human traits, extremely ugly ones like Prejudice, Racism and such. Thus artificial corporate constructs like manager, VP, ED etc., do not have a place in this, everyone is person and will act based on individual character. Hence we are all reduced to equals here. Character and Integrity are the key words. Please let me know if you still want to continue your chosen path. In that case I can reveal all my letters that I have written to HR and senior management so far. Then people as humans can judge what the case is about and where fairness lies.
In the presence of God there will be fairness always. Hence "In God we Trust". Truth alone triumphs . Hence "Satyameva Jayate".
In the absence of God a case can only be closed in a court of law or an entity that equates to court of law. So far JPMC HR has fallen short of it.
It Is Wrong To Be Judge, Jury and Executioner.

subjectRe: sick day today

Anna,
I am still down, though tired and restless I am physically fine but mentally disturbed and depressed. For past two nights I haven't had proper sleep, instead having nightmares!
Ever since this ordeal began I have begun to read a lot about Racism, Prejudice, Discrimination and such diversity related aspects not only related to workplace but in the historical context. Though I am well read and familiar on these topics reading them once again is causing lot of turbulence. May be they are the cause for nightmares. For example last night I had this nightmare about some doctor treating me for "Drapetomania" with my hands and legs tied up. I had read about it last weekend as follows ( It's on this web site http://www.bluecorncomics.com/blaming.htm )
Indeed, what better evidence of white denial (even dementia)
could one need than that provided by "Doctor" Samuel Cartwright, a
well-respected physician of the 19th century, who was so convinced of slavery's
benign nature, that he concocted and named a disease to explain the tendency for
many slaves to run away from their loving masters. Drapetomania, he called it: a
malady that could be cured by keeping the slave in a "child-like state," and
taking care not to treat them as equals, while yet striving not to be too cruel.
Mild whipping was, to Cartwright, the best cure of all. So there you have it:
not only is racial oppression not a problem; even worse, those blacks who resist
it, or refuse to bend to it, or complain about it in any fashion, are to be
viewed not only as exaggerating their condition, but indeed, as mentally ill
(17).
I do not know what to make out of all this. I will call the counselling services offered by the firm ( EAP ), this is the first time in my life I will be exploring this path. Do not know how much it will help. I will try to see a psychologist through my doctor.
On the work front I saw few mails, did not open several of them. KDP was excellent. I will proabably rest this week and hope to be better by Monday.

BrownMan,
Given that you are in Houston and I am in NY I've arranged for one of my colleagues, Brenda McKee to join our call today. She is located at 712 Main Street in Houston on the 4th Floor. You should enter the building on the south side (lobby). Please give her a call before you leave your office so she can meet you in the lobby and accompany you up.

BrownMan is concerned about his safety
-----------------------------
Hello Mariela,
Thanks for your note. Can we do it on 9/3 anytime or after. Please send me a meeting invite and I will call you from one of the conference rooms here. I have one major concern if you could answer now.
I am very uncomfortable in the workplace cubicle I am in, my manager is 2 cubicles behind me. Current situation is affecting my ability to concentrate on my work also. Is there some mechanism by which I can be accomodated some other work cubicle distant from the current one until this investigation is complete and the matter is settled. I know some companies have a policy about this, I could not find anything on this in JPMC's intranet site. Please let me know.
regards,
BrownMan

Your grievance has been escalated to Employee Relations for further review as I have already reviewed and concluded the results of my investigation.

BrownMan's manager was called to New York
- Was he disciplined? May be, a white man gets a slap on the wrist!
- Was he instructed how to proceed? With a wink and a nod!
- Was he involved in strategizing if this snowballed into bigger issue?

Armtwisting by senior manager, threat?
Anna,
Considering the nature of my complaint I have put it all down in my letters or as email. Regarding further meetings, more than once, I have clarified to Christine that it's lacking transparency. I am not comfortable with all being verbal - Why don't we have a paper trail so that none can argue later that what was said was not said or vice versa. If you read my letters it's clear and rational why I don't want to report to Greg.I am not resigning.
regards,
BrownMan
----------------
BrownMan,
I have read through all your emails and have made 3 attempts to meet with yourself and Christine. I take such claims in my area extremely serious and have supported the efforts to get to the bottom of the issue. Your role at this point in time is reporting to Greg and that has not changed. To the extent that you no longer wish to report to Greg then you are free to resign.
Regards,
Anna
----------------
Anna,
I will not be able to report to Greg going forward. Until the dust fully settles I can report to you at best. I have expressed my thoughts in following email1 and email2. Please read if you have not. You simply dont understand the gravity of the situation or want to ignore it conveniently.
regards,
BrownMan
----------------
BrownMan,
I hope your family will soon be well.
All future notes regarding sick leave should be addressed to Greg Dillard as he is your direct manager. Thank you.

Anna
